The Paris bombing’s last week has once again thrust Islam and the Muslim world into the global spotlight. One could well call it another cementing of the perception that the non-Muslim world has of Islam and the Muslims but in actual fact this happens to be very far from reality and what Islam and the Muslims are and what they stand for. The very name Islam is derived from the Arabic verb sa la ma which means peace. Does it make sense then that the followers of a religion of peace resort to acts and deeds that are everything but peaceful?

At this stage all accusatory fingers are pointing in the direction of ISIS- a recent and new wing of so called ‘Islamic’ militants whose ideals and ideologies, as they claim, revolve around establishing an Islamic state whereby governance would take place as per the laws of the Qur’aan and the Sunnah-notwithstanding the fact that almost every act of theirs openly goes against the teachings of the Qur’aan and the Sunnah.

Nonetheless, ISIS has become the new face of Islam and the Muslims. Do we need to point out at this juncture that ISIS currently constitutes between 7000 and 15 000 members out of the 1.6 billion Muslims worldwide? Should we take even the highest estimate of 15 000 ISIS members and convert this to a percentage we will shockingly find that this percentage equals to a measly 0.0009375%- therefore ISIS does not even form 1% of Islam and the Muslims. So then we ask how can one such insignificant minority of a deviated sect represent Islam? This is what the world needs to see, understand and accept. ISIS does not stand for Islam and its teachings in any way whatsoever and Islam can never condone such acts of terror and barbarism.

Allah Almighty says in the Holy Quran: “Whoever kills a human being except in lieu of killing or causing turmoil in the earth, so it shall be as if he had killed all mankind”. [Surah al-Ma'idah, Verse 32]

Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Umar (Radi Allahu Anhu) narrated that the Holy Prophet (Sallallahu Alaihi Wasallam) said, “A faithful believer remains at liberty regarding his religion unless he kills somebody unlawfully”. [Sahih Bukhari, Vol. 4, Page 356, Hadith 6862]

The attacks in Paris, Lebanon and Baghdad are absolutely outrageous. The attackers are destined for eternal punishment in the fire of hell for distorting the principles of Islam to justify the killing of civilians. Same goes for the attackers in Gujarat who killed thousands of innocent civilians and those who killed hundreds and thousands of civilians in Pakistan, Kashmir, Palestine, Afghanistan, Lebanon, Iraq and Syria. May they all be brought to justice.

Before anyone blames Islam or Muslims for the crimes of ISIS in Paris or elsewhere in the world, they should remember that ISIS has killed over half a million Muslims in the past 2 years. Muslims surely hate ISIS more than Non-Muslims do, but unfortunately we Muslims are still propagated to be affiliated with them. ISIS are not but an insignificant minority. They do not represent the views of the Muslims at all. It is important that Muslims do all they can to help destroy the filthy dogs of ISIS. If the whole Muslim world condemns the atrocities it is not enough. We need to start eradicating them and their ideology. They are trying to hijack our peaceful religion and make halal what Allah made haram. A terrorist cannot be a Muslim and a Muslim can never be a terrorist.

P.S.: Anyone asking where are the Muslims condemning the Paris/terrorist attacks, must have their hands over their eyes and fingers in their ears!
