One of the material objectives of Islam is unity, ALLAH (S.W.T) says in Ayat 103 of Surah al-Imran that:-

Hold fast , all of you together, to the Rope Of ALLAH and be not divided amongst yourselves”.

In Ayat 71 of Surah al-Thaubah, ALLAH) (S.W.T) says:

The believing men and women are loyal to one another”.

In Ayat 103 of Surah al-Imran, ALLAH (S.W.T.)enjoins unity with the words:

Be not divided amongst yourselves”.

In Ayat 10 of Surah al-Hujurat, Ayats 153 and 159 of Surah al-An’am and in Ayata 31 and 32 of Surah al-Rum of the Holy Quran, ALLAH (S.W.T.) forbids disunity amongst Muslims

Al- Tirmizi reports that our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) as having said:

By the One in whose Hand is my soul, you will not enter paradise until you believe and you will not believe until you love one another”.

The context of the Quranic Ayats and the Ahadith of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) referred to herein contextualize The Durban Eid Gah Committee’s initiative through the Durban Eid Gah to unify Muslims in an age of differences.

ALLAH (S.W.T.) says in the holy Quran (303) 23:53

But they have broken their religion among them into sects, each group rejoicing in its belief”.

At (304) Quran 8:46 ALLAH (S.W.T.) enjoins:

And obey ALLAH (S.W.T) and his Messenger and do not dispute with one another lest you lose courage and your strength depart and be patient. Surely, ALLAH is with those who are patient”.

The intention of those who are dedicated to the successful hosting of the Durban Eid Gah at the People’s Park, next to Moses Mabida is to unite the Ummah of Muhammad (S.A.W.) solely for the pleasure of ALLAH (S.W.T.) ALLAH (S.W.T) says at (305) Quran 5:48:

If ALLAH 9S.W.T.) willed HE would have made you one nation (religion) but that HE may test you in what HE has given you. So strive in good deeds”.

A step towards this unification was encouraging when the Springfield Eidgah amalgamated with the Durban North Eidgah: . It is hoped and to be expected that over a period of time persons who perform their Eid Salaats at other Eidgahs will gather as a united nation of Muslims at the Durban Eidgah to perform their Eid Salaats. Let us unite, cast away ideological differences and demonstrate to each other the love which ALLAH (S.W.T.) expects us to do. Let us act solely for the pleasure of ALLAH (S.W.T.)

It is in the aforegoing context that brothers from the Eidgah Commitees and others who are committed to complying with the injunctions of ALLAH (S.W.T.) and acting in accordance with the Sunnah of our beloved Prophet Muhammad (S.A.W.) urge you to support the Durban Eidgah by performing your Eid Salaats thereat.

The facilities such as ample parking, ablution provisions, security guards, emergency medical facilities and the ambience in general will (INSHALLAH) engender peace and harmony that is conducive to spiritual growth and upliftment.

It is contemplated that Alims from different Islamic groups will be afforded the opportunity of leading Eid prayers and delivering the traditional Eid Bayaan on an equal rotational basis to facilitate perseverance in unity . ALLAH (S.W.T.) says at (307) Quran 23:52

verify this (you nation) is one united nation , and I am your Lord, so keep your duty to Me”.

Leaders of the various masaajid are encouraged to lead their flock to a unified Eidgah. Besides attending an Eidgah , if one makes an intention of attending a site whereby unification is sought then one is rewarded again and one can stand proud on the Day of Reconing that one did one great step towards the unification of the UM MAH>
