MY KITTEN FROM ALLAH
Little Salma so badly wanted a kitten of her own. This happened after she had visited her cousins on their farm a few weekends ago and thoroughly enjoyed the kittens they had. Despite asking her mum numerous times for her own kitten her mum blankly refused concocting all sorts of reasons as to why she could not have a kitten of her own. So little Salma decided to ask someone else. She remembered her Muallimah at Madrassah telling them that whatever we want we should ask Allah Ta’ala for He never says NO! This is exactly what Salma did. She asked Allah Ta’ala for her very own kitten.
Now little Salma’s request had to be processed so this is what happened. Allah Ta’ala used a man who found a kitten that climbed up a tree in his backyard and then was afraid to come down. The man coaxed the kitten, offered it warm milk and tried everything in his power to get the kitten down but to no avail. The kitty would just not come down. The tree was not sturdy enough to climb, so the man decided that if he tied a rope to his car and pulled it until the tree bent down, he could then reach up and get the kitten.
That's what he did, all the while checking his progress in the car. He then figured if he went just a little bit further, the tree would be bent sufficiently for him to reach the kitten. But as he moved the car a little further forward, the rope broke.
The tree went 'boing!' and the kitten instantly sailed through the air - out of sight.
The man felt terrible. He walked all over the neighbourhood asking people if they'd seen a little kitten. No. Nobody had seen a stray kitten.
So he prayed, 'O Allah please keep this kitten safe’ and then went on about his business.
A few days later he was at the grocery store, and met Salma’s mum who, was one of his neighbours. He happened to look into her shopping trolley and was amazed to see cat food. His amazement was on account of him knowing just how she despised cats. Many times she openly expressed her dislike for them. So he asked her, 'Why are you buying cat food when you hate cats so much?' She replied, 'You won't believe this,' and then told him how her little girl had been begging her for a cat, but she kept refusing. She then told him that when her daughter realized that there was no way that she was getting a kitten from her, she decided to ask Allah Ta’ala who she said would never say no to her like she did. She also told her that if Allah Ta’ala gives her the kitten then she could keep it.
She then told the man, 'I watched my child go out in the yard, get on her knees and raising her little hands, she asked Allah Ta’ala for a cat. And really, you won't believe this, but I saw it with my own eyes. A kitten suddenly came flying out of the blue sky, with its paws outspread, and landed right in front of her.' The man could not believe what he had just heard. More gratifying to him was that Allah Ta’ala had used him as a means in answering a little girl’s duaa.
Humorous as it may sound but Allah Ta’ala does work in mysterious and amazing ways to answer the Duaas of His creation. Here, a little girl wants a cat and she gets it in a somewhat humorous way- after all anything coming from the sky can only come from Allah Ta’ala!
